Change eye color in Photoshop CS5

Have you ever wanted to see what your eyes look like  in a different color?
This tutorial will show you how to change ones eyes in a photograph using Photoshop CS5
with some straight forward steps involved.

Step 1 - Open up a  good picture of yourself or someones eyes, and duplicate the background layer.
(Right click the background layer and choose Duplicate Layer)

Step 2 – Select the eyes
Zoom in on the eyes of your subject. Select the Elliptical Marquee tool
and put your mouse in the center of the eye. Hold down Shift and Alt, and draw a circle around the colored area of the eye.

Tip: when using the Marquee tool; Shift makes a perfect circle or square,
and Alt will draw your selection from the center outward.

If you want to color both eyes, use  the  elliptical Marquee tool,
and add to selection to select the other  eye with the same process.

Step 3 – We need to remove the selection from the eyelid and we will
use the polygonal lasso tool for that.
Select the polygonal lasso tool and on the tools control panel select
Subtract from selection as seen here:

Select the eyelid to remove it from your selection.

Step 4 – Feather the edges
We need to feather the selection so the color we apply has a
soft edge to it.  On the menu,
go to Select-> Modify -> Feather (or Shift F6)and apply a 5 pixel Feather.
The size of the feather depends on your image size, if need you can always
feather again. here is my result so far:

Step 5 - create a fill layer to change eyes color.
let’s go to the menu, and Layer-> New fill layer -> Solid Color.
a new fill layer window shows up, hit OK.
Now a color picker window displays, Choose a color you would like to
Change the eyes to. In the layers panel, change the blending mode
to color like so:

Step 6 - We will remove the color from the Iris.
the color fill layer automatically gives you a layer mask, which
will show or hide what is on that layer. simply put, black hides and
white shows.
Select the Brush tool (b) choose  a soft edge brush from the
control panel. click on the layer mask on the color fill layer.
Hit D on your keyboard to make your foreground color black.
change the size of your brush to the size of the iris.
Click in the center of the eyes to remove the color from the iris.

Tip: the brackets on your keyboard will change the brush size.
” [ " will decrease your Brush size, and " ] ” will increase your brush size.

If the color is too intense on the eyes, lower the opacity of the color fill layer till
it looks the way you want it to.
