Illustrator is the original king for drawing vectors since the 80′s, and I will show you how
drawing a vector diamond is an easy task in Illustrator with the help of the ellipse tool, pen tool,
and using the Live Paint Bucket.
Follow along with me on this Illustrator Tutorial on how to Draw a Diamond using Illustrator CS5:

Here is a few examples of diamonds you will be creating:

Step 1 – Create a New Illustrator file.
On the menu go to, File > New click OK.
(or press Ctrl N)

Step 2 – Draw a couple ovals to create the top of the diamond.
Press L on your keyboard to select the Ellipse Tool.
Press D to set your fill and stroke to the default fill and stroke.
Click and drag to draw an oval shape. Select the Black arrow ( press V)
and click on the oval to select. Hold down Alt and click and drag to duplicate the oval.
Select the new oval and scale it using shift and Alt so that it fits inside the first oval.
It should look like this:

Step 3 – Add a Triangle with the Pen tool to create the bottom of the diamond.
Will start adding a triangular shape to the bottom of the ovals.
Press P to select the Pen Tool. Click to add an anchor point at the left edge of
the ovals. now move your mouse to were you want the tip to be, Illustrator will show
you a guide that will be the center of the ovals. When you see it, move your mouse
down until your diamond is the height you wish and click to create your second anchor point.

Now Click to add an anchor point at the Right edge of
the ovals. Press V to select the black arrow click on the triangular shape you just created.
Right click (or Ctrl click on Mac) and select Arrange > Send Backward.
your diamond should look like this now:

Step 4 – Add lines to create the cuts in the diamond.
Press P to select the Pen Tool. Starting from the left side, we will create a zig zag lines
between the 2 ovals to create the top cuts. (look at my finished diamond as an example.)
make sure there are no gaps between the zig zag lines and the ovals.

Next we need to add vertical lines to create the vertical cuts.
Deselect Everything so we can start a new path. Now wherever the Zig Zag line
touches the outer oval click to start a path and then click again at the bottom
tip of the diamond like this:

I highlighted in pink were you should start your vertical lines

Make Sure and Deselect after each vertical line you draw. (press v than click on a blank area of your artboard)

You should now have your basic Vector Diamond:

Step 5 - Color your diamond using Live paint.
Press V to select your Black arrow and click and drag around the diamond to select the whole thing.
On the menu go to, Object > Live Paint > Make. this will make it easier to color our diamond.

This Photoshop CS5 tutorial will show you a simple process creating a UFO to add to your image.
Whether you believe UFO’s are real or not, with Photoshop anything is convincingly believable.
I will be using my own Photo for this Tutorial. You may use my photo or select a great photo of you own.

Step 1 – Open your desired photo and create a new layer.
(Ctrl Shift N) or Layer > New > Layer.
This new layer will be used for your UFO.

Step 2 – Make a selection shaped like a UFO.
We are going to draw some ovals to create the shape of the UFO.
Select the Elliptical Marquee Tool and draw a flat oval the size you want like so:

Now hold down Shift and draw a smaller Oval on the top of the previous oval
to make the top of the UFO as shown below:
Tip: When holding down SHIFT when using a selection tool (like the elliptical Marquee Tool), it will add to your previous selection.
Also when using a selection tool, holding down ALT will subtract from a previous selection.

Step 3 – Add some color to your UFO.
Select the Gradient Tool (G) and select the black and white gradient.
Hold down shift and click and drag from the bottom to the top of your Dancing ants.

Step 4 - Add Shadows and details to your Flying Saucer:
First will add the shadows to the bottom of the Saucer.
Select the Brush Tool (B) and make it rather small (I used a 9 pixel soft brush)
hold down shift while dragging left to right, across the bottom of the selection to add shadow and define
the bottom of the UFO.
Now select a medium gray (#848383) and decrease your brush size even smaller and hold shift and draw
a gray line above the black line, like so:

Select a Darker Gray ( #464545) hold down Shift and draw a line at the point
the two ovals meet together like so:

Step 5 – use the dodge tool to add light source.
look at other objects in your picture to see where the highlights are at and replicate them.
select the Dodge tool (o) (using around a 19px soft brush) and bring your exposure down to 30%, also uncheck protect tones, now just
click and drag lightly to add highlights where your highlights should be on your UFO as seen here:

Step 6 – Apply a Blur to the UFO, because UFO’s are always blurry.
We definitely need to blur our space craft to look more genuine.
Zoom out to see the whole picture and press Ctrl D to Deselect.
On the menu, go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur.
the amount of blur depends on your image size. I used 1.7 pixels

Gaussian Blur

choose whatever looks good to you. Click OK.

Step 6 – resize and position.
If your UFO is too big, press Ctrl T and rescale using the corner handles. Press enter
to accept the size. select the Move tool (V) and position your UFO where ever it looks believable.
Duplicate your UFO layer if you want more than one UFO.

Here is my result:

Experiment with your UFO to create your own variation of an Unidentified-Flying-Object.

Thanks you for following along with this Tutorial.
Feel free to leave comments and share your finished result.

Select the top layer and Right-click–>Duplicate Layer.
press Ctrl T and scale using Alt and Shift to scale to 80%.
you need to repeat this process until it looks like the center is
set back a ways. in my Photo, I repeated this process 9 times to achieve
this result so far:

Step 4 – Apply a radial blur to enhance the effect.
Lets go to the Menu, Select >Select all ( or Ctrl A)
which gives you dancing ants around the whole image.
and go to Edit > Copy Merged. Then paste (Ctrl V)
Now go to Filter > Blur > Radial Blur.
Set your amount to around 52, your blur method to zoom, and Quality
to best as shown here below:

Photoshop Radial Blur

It looks a little too blurry right now, but we will fix that next.

Step – 5 Soften the blur effect.
Select the Eraser (press E)
and set your Eraser brush to a
big, soft, and round brush like the settings below:

Opacity 47%
Hardness 4%
(Brush size depends on your image)

Start with the eraser on the top and center of your image, and erase
down to the bottom, then erase again from the bottom to the top.
This will soften the blur and allows for more depth.

Here is my final result:

Have you ever wanted to see what your eyes look like in a different color?
This tutorial will show you how to change ones eyes in a photograph using Photoshop CS5
with some straight forward steps involved.

Step 1 - Open up a good picture of yourself or someones eyes, and duplicate the background layer.
(Right click the background layer and choose Duplicate Layer)

Step 2 – Select the eyes
Zoom in on the eyes of your subject. Select the Elliptical Marquee tool
and put your mouse in the center of the eye. Hold down Shift and Alt, and draw a circle around the colored area of the eye.

Tip: when using the Marquee tool; Shift makes a perfect circle or square,
and Alt will draw your selection from the center outward.

If you want to color both eyes, use the elliptical Marquee tool,
and add to selection to select the other eye with the same process.

Step 3 – We need to remove the selection from the eyelid and we will
use the polygonal lasso tool for that.
Select the polygonal lasso tool and on the tools control panel select
Subtract from selection as seen here:

subtract From Selection

Select the eyelid to remove it from your selection.
as seen here:

Step 4 – Feather the edges
We need to feather the selection so the color we apply has a
soft edge to it. On the menu,
go to Select-> Modify -> Feather (or Shift F6)and apply a 5 pixel Feather.
The size of the feather depends on your image size, if need you can always
feather again. here is my result so far:

Step 5 - create a fill layer to change eyes color.
let’s go to the menu, and Layer-> New fill layer -> Solid Color.
a new fill layer window shows up, hit OK.
Now a color picker window displays, Choose a color you would like to
Change the eyes to. In the layers panel, change the blending mode
to color like so:

Layers Panel Blending mode

Step 6 - We will remove the color from the Iris.
the color fill layer automatically gives you a layer mask, which
will show or hide what is on that layer. simply put, black hides and
white shows.
Select the Brush tool (b) choose a soft edge brush from the
control panel. click on the layer mask on the color fill layer.
Hit D on your keyboard to make your foreground color black.
change the size of your brush to the size of the iris.
Click in the center of the eyes to remove the color from the iris.

Tip: the brackets on your keyboard will change the brush size.
” [ " will decrease your Brush size, and " ] ” will increase your brush size.

If the color is too intense on the eyes, lower the opacity of the color fill layer till
it looks the way you want it to.

Final Result:

This tutorial will show you how to turn an image into text art. we will be using 3 colors which utilize
highlights, midtones, and shadows to give depth to your text art.
Follow along and watch magic take place.

Step 1 – Open an image you want to turn into text art.
Lets make it black and white by going to
Image > Adjustments > Desaturate.

Step 2 - Select the type tool and change your font color to white.
Click and drag to make a text box the same size as your image.
Type a line of the word or words you wish to use. select the line you just made
and hit Ctrl C to copy, Click at the end of the line and press enter to move to the next line
Hit Ctrl V to paste. Keep hitting enter and pasting until your image is covered in text like below.

Step 3 - Right click (or Ctrl Click on Mac) on your text layer and select
Duplicate Layer. Right click again and duplicate layer a second time.
Select the first copy layer, and with the text tool select all the text by clicking
in the text and hitting Ctrl A (Select All). change your font color to a medium
Grey. Now select the 2nd text layer copy repeating the same process selecting the text
but this time change the font color to Black. Your layer should resemble mine below.

I renamed the text layers to illustrate the step.

Step 4 – Hide your text layers by clicking on the eyeball beside each of them.
Select the image Layer (mines background) and go to
Select > Color Range. From the select drop-down menu
choose Shadows. Which gives you a selection (dancing ants) of the shadows of
your image.
Now show your black text layer and select that layer.
at the bottom of the layers panel click on the layer mask button.
This makes the black text show up only on the shadows of the image like so:

Step 5 - Now We repeat the process for the midtones of your image.
Hide your text layers .
Select the image Layer (mines background) and go to
Select > Color Range. From the select drop-down menu
choose Midtones. Which gives you a selection (dancing ants) of the midtones of
your image.
Now show your Grey text layer and select that layer.
at the bottom of the layers panel click on the layer mask button.
This makes the Grey text show up only on the Midtones of the image.

Step 6 - let’s now repeat this process for the Highlights of your image.
Hide your text layers .
Select the image Layer (mines background) and go to
Select > Color Range. From the select drop-down menu
choose Highlights. Which gives you a selection (dancing ants) of the Highlights of
your image.
Show your White text layer and select that layer.
at the bottom of the layers panel click on the layer mask button.
This makes the White text show up only on the Highlights of the image.

Image so far:

If you want to change the color of the background to make the words
stand out more select the image layer and create a new layer
(Ctrl shift N) and fill it with a color of your choice. (shift F5) or edit > Fill.

Optionally, if you want the text to only show up on your subject,
Select the text layers mask that flows into the background
using the brush with black as your foreground color, paint on your
image wherever you want to hide the text.

My final result:

Try these techniques on a variety of subjects, like maybe a pig:

This tutorial will show you how to make text out of an image.
like you may have seen on postcards and advertising.
There are several ways in Photoshop to accomplish this effect, however
I will be showing you how to do this image into text effect using a layer mask.

Photoshop tutorial – place an image inside of text and more

Step 1 - First off, lets create a new file (File>New or Ctrl/Cmd N)

Make the size of your new document around the size of your image to be used,
and copy/paste the image into your Photoshop file.

Here is the image I am using:

Feel free to use it or use one of your own images.

Step 2 – Select the type tool (Hit T) and select
a font of your choice (FYI: I am using the balloon xbd bt font)
Type a word of your choice. Select the text you just typed so we can resize it.
Now click in the font size on the control panel
and hit the up arrow on your keyboard to increase the
size of your text. The down arrow will decrease your
Text size. click the check mark on the control panel to
commit your text.

(Tip: Most adobe software will allow you to increase or decrease a numeric value by using the up and down arrow keys)<—

Step 3 – In the Layers Panel, Move the text layer beneath the layer with your image on it
and press CTRL and click on the thumbnail of the text layer,
which selects the text for you. Now select the top layer
and click on the vector mask button at the bottom of the layers panel as shown below.

so far:

Optionally, If you want to add a shadow to your text, select the text layer and using your move tool ( v)
hit you arrows on you keyboard (left, right,up,down) the direction you want your shadow to go.

A few years ago while I was teaching Photoshop, a designer for a car dealership asked me if there was an easy way to remove the yellow from the teeth of his used car salesman photos he had on there site. I laughed and responded that it is an easy fix.
The reason I call it butter teeth is because When you go to the movies and eat popcorn that has a little too much butter on it, your teeth look all buttery. If you are unfamiliar with using Quick mask mode in Photoshop, this would be an excellent introduction to using this feature
as it is one of the more versatile ways to make a selection, since it utilizes the brush tool.

Follow along this tutorial to learn how to remove yellow from teeth. you can use my photo if you wish.

Butter Teeth

Lets open up the picture of the butter teeth you have.

Step 1- the first thing we need to do is select the teeth.
We are going to be using the Quick mask mode to make our selection, which uses your brush to paint your selection.
at the bottom of the tools panel double click on the edit in quick mask mode button to look at our options

Select the option to for Color Indicates Selected areas.
Using this option when you paint with black it will paint a selection (seen in red).
when you paint with white it will remove from your selection

Quick Mask Options

That way when we paint with our brush it will paint the teeth red.

Step 2 - paint the teeth. Zoom in (ctrl +) on the teeth and paint all
the yellow teeth red like so:

To toggle in and out of normal/Quick mask edit modes you can hit the Q on your keyboard. In Normal Edit mode, you
will see dancing ants around your selection.
this will help you in making sure your selection is accurate.
So hit Q and with the dancing ants surrounding your teeth hit Ctrl J to copy the teeth to its on layer.

Step 3 - take the yellow out. click on the adjustments layer button at the bottom of the layers panel
and select Hue/Saturation.

We need to take the yellow only out of the teeth(desaturate), So we need to take the yellow only out of the teeth and not the
rest of the photo. Click on the create clipping mask button at the bottom of the adjustments panel.

Now from the color drop down men select yellows and move the saturation slider to the left to remove the yellow.
My teeth have a little red in them as well so I select red from the drop down menu and repeat the process to remove the red.
Pay attention to the color of the teeth as you move the saturation slider to much Desaturation and you teeth will look grey.

here is my result:

Whiter Teeth

Photoshop CS5- Change The color of your Car in Photoshop

This is probably one of the easiest ways to change the cars color in Photoshop.
This method of changing a cars color does not require using any selection tools, we will
use the original car color with a Hue/Saturation Adjustments layer to select the body of the car.

These procedures do not work on grey/silver/black/white cars.

Step 1- Open an image of a car.

RedFerrari250Lemans

Step 2-Click on the Adjustments layer button and select Hue/Saturation
Click on the drop down menu that says master, and choose the color that represents your images car Color.

To make sure you selected the right color slide the saturation slider to the left. If your cars color turns grey or loses its color you have selected the right color setting. set your saturation slider back to 0.

Step 3- In the Hue/Saturation adjustments panel move the Hue

Slider to achieve the color you desire. You can then use the Saturation slider to control the tone or punch of the color.

Optional Step 4- If you have similar color objects in the background of the car that change with the car, you Can use the mask (click on It)

that is on the Hue/Saturation adjustments layer to remove any unwanted recoloring by using your brush and painting black were you want to remove the color effects of the layer.

The End.

This is an old school Photoshop effect I have been using for years.
It is very simple and it can serve as the basis for other ideas and techniques to be used.

Start by creating a new document (file>new) the size you want.
(I am using a 1024 x 768)

Let’s go to Filter > Render > Clouds.
Ctrl F will repeat the clouds filter, so hit Ctrl F a couple times to vary your clouds.

Now we need to break up the softness of the clouds a bit to help with our effect.
Filter > Pixelate > Mezzotint > and select Medium Dots.

now its time for the Zoom effect to take place.Go to Filter > Blur > Radial Blur.
Select Zoom as the Blur method and set the amount to 100.

Click OK.

Now, use the repeat filter shortcut again Ctrl F 2 or 3 times to sharpen the effect.
It will now look like this…

You can now add some color to this effect by using a Hue/saturation adjustment layer.
at the bottom of the layers panel click on the adjustment layer button and select Hue/saturation

Select the Colorize checkBox, and move the hue slider to the color that you wish.
You can also adjust the Saturation slider to give your color more punch.

Lets set the zoom effect back a bit to give it some depth.
Make sure you are on the layer with the zoom/warp is applied.
and lets go to Filter > Distort > Pinch.
set the amount to 100.

This is the end of this tutorial, However I suggest experimenting a little bit to see where you can take this effect

Final<g:plusone href="http://robocobra.com/photoshop/create-a-zoomwarp-speed-effect-in-photoshop/"></g:plusone>

Creating a Panoramic photo using Photoshop CS5

Panoramas are a great way to capture a landscape, cityscape, or an event and
creating a Panoramic in Photoshop is one of the easier tasks in Photoshop.
The process is basically the stitching of several photos together.

When shooting a panoramic, you will get better results with the use of a tripod.

Step 1: Open the photos to be used for your panoramic.

I have 5 photos of I am going to use for the panoramic.
I am using the Adobe Bridge to open my files. Try it. (file—>browse in Bridge)

Step 2: Now on your menu, go to File–>Automate–>Photomerge.

Now click on the Add open files button to select the photos to photomerge.

On the left side of the Photomerge dialog box are 6 options to choose how Photoshop merges your photos. We will go with the easiest option which is Auto.

Click OK to start the photomerge.

Step 3. Crop out the unwanted portions of you panorama.

Photoshop uses layer masks to blend each layer to create the panoramic.
you will notice the edges of my photo do not match up so I will need to use the crop tool to finish.

THE END.

Here are a few other examples:

<g:plusone href="http://robocobra.com/design-themes/how-to-create-a-panorama-in-photoshop/"></g:plusone>
